Cholla pronounced cho-ya is a Spanish word that means joints or jointed. The cane cholla is the most common species of cholla in New Mexico. It is a bushy cactus with spiny, cylindrical, fleshy stems, which when dead shows a latticed woody skeleton. The dead latticed skeleton is recycled into the main body of the pen that is filled with turquoise sparkled alumilite (which is an acrylic material).
The cactus pen is packaged in a cherry wooden box utilizes a "Parker Style" refill which is readily available at any stationary store. Parker style refills are available in the Pens Accessories & Supplies section of this website.
